There is no need for insurance if...
- people are more important than money
- mercy is more prevalent than blame
- accountability is for the good of the one being held accountable instead of personal gain for the one wronged
Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality. 2 Corinthians 8:13-14But somewhere along the way, we messed it up. Insurance companies take the personal element out of helping each other. That's a shame. It would be a much kinder world without insurance.
So, what do you think? Was this 3am thought prompted by God or was the white chili waking me up?

A minority group DOES live in this age without insurance, AND they indeed help each other out in times of property loss (fires, calamity, etc.) & medical. They are the Amish. I became personally acquainted with many of them while they did a remodel of my old farmhouse.
While chili thoughts might be more towards "pepto" or "rolaids" : )
I think you are having visions of what is to come when God's kingdom has been fully restored - an new heaven and a new earth!
We did mess it up all those years ago in the garden when mankind let sin into the world. A world without sin would not need insurance as people would behave unselfishly and trust each other completely but that is not where we live today unfortunately - hence the creation of insurance. I guess it really is insurance against the "self centeredness" of our fellow man and our lack of trust and belief that others would take care of us in our time of need. A sad commentary really on our human condition .....but then again....that is why Jesus came. When we are controlled by the Spirit - I think we have glimpses of what we could be and someday will be completely. Fully transformed!
Of course - I must fully disclose that my husband makes his living at an insurance company!! Does that make my comment null and void? : )
We should just abolish insurance, but also interest. The point you are making, in a nutshell, is that we have systems in place now that feed off human beings. The funny thing is, and employee, working for an insurance company, is probably being fed off of by another entity (such as their mortgage lender) via interest. We'll have made great strides when neither interest or insurance exist anymore. But right now too many people are narrow minded or don't trust anyone.
Ever feel like you were born in the wrong time?
